Hi

Like so many others im planning on quitting work and going travelling this summer for at least 6 months. I plan to head out to Oz and NZ first and then on to wherever...im open to ideas. The only thing stopping me making plans is my lack of someone to go with as all my mates are tied down or generally not up for it. I know everyone says its easy to meet people on the way, but id prefer to head off with someone. Anyone out there in the same position then get in touch!!!

Cheers

Claire

Claire

I am also travelling alone from summer for about a year after quitting work etc. I am starting in India however so sorry to say wouldnt be interested in starting in Oz. I am only writing to say that, I too am going it alone and am really looking forward to it. I went to Cambodia last Nov as a precursor to this for 1 month ALONE! It was brilliant, and I wouldnt have it any other way - I got to meet loads of people and made lots of new friends AND saw what I wanted to WHEN I wanted to. I know it may flee slightly different for a girl (no offence) but there were also girls in the same position and it is easy to hook up with someone wherever you are who may be travelling in the same direction - people tend to go the same way on the backpacker trail. I often travelled with other people on trains, boats etc in Cambodia. Good luck. E-mail me if you want to talk more, I would be happy to share all the info I have.

Hi Claire.

I'm going to Australia in August. I'm in the same sort of situation as you, none of my mates have any intrest in traveling, so i'm also going on my own. However, on the plus side this means you are totally free to go where and when you want. When i went away for a week with some friends it could take a couple of hours to decide what to do because of one person being awkward.

If you are staying at a hostel you'll meet loads of people, and you probably won't the only person who has just arrived.

Chris.
