Hi
I am 27-year-old female from the UK who is bored with the 9-5 lifestyle. For a while I have been thinking of packing my bags and seeing more of the world.(I'm quite flexible on where to go as I have no plans) The only thinking stopping me is doing it alone. If you feel the same and want to see more of the world but don’t want to go on your own, please contact me. kkaur23@hotmail.com [This message was edited by kkaur23 on January 24, 2004 at 04:08 AM.] |

Hi there - I'm majorly bored here too and for ages I've been wanting to do the same. I've decided to do it in November and more or less go it alone!! I could be meeting up with a couple of guys/girls along the way but no definite plans as yet. What I'm saying is there's practically nothing to worry about. Work out the pros and cons! Pros - you get to choose where to go and for how long - ultimate freedom - there are small adventure tours you can do in each country which would enable you to meet with folk and see great places too. You get the choice of going on whatever tour. Also your more likely to be open minded with different cultures etc. and likely to get to know more peeps if you are on your own. Guys/gals will be open and friendly when travelling - I've holiday'd twice on my own and thought I would not meet folk but twice I met loads of peeps and that is staying in a hotel on my own - no hostel with a bar or whatever. I am pretty shy when meeting people at first too but I still got to know peeps. Also if you make definite plans with somebody to go everywhere and they turn out to be a complete pain in the neck then it could be kinda hard to say goodbye to 'em!! Cons - if you are the sort who doesn't like popping into town alone etc. -like my sis :) and always likes company - it's probably not a good idea to go it alone as there is no guarantee that some of the time (train journeys etc.) you could be alone :/ Also accommodation is cheaper when with a pal and there is someone there at airports / train stations to keep an eye on your luggage - if you say, pop to the loo or something. Anyway hope this helps - I'm sure you will meet loadsa peeps out there!! I am going November 04 South America for a while (on a tour), then early 2005 OZ, NZ and Asia - so if you are in those areas at the time and fancy a beer (or three) then give me a shout!!

Hi,
I'm off travelling in the near future. I was worried about going alone too but now I think it's the best way to travel, although I do want to meet loads of people so I have the option of a travel companion if needed. I'm going to USA in April, will overland to LA, and then fly to Australia. From there I have no plans as yet! If you do go travelling this year, give me a shout - we may be in the same area! |
