I am doing the same trip as you, but planning to leave in September (to avoid the heat). I might also try to get to Iran if I can manage a VISA. I am from the States, living in Washington DC.

Hi Stuart, Iran is terribly hot in september except the North western part. anyway, if anybody looks for a tip in Iran i maybe helpful.

Hey, I'm going to Egypt hopefully this summer, to study Arabic and would love to travel around the area too. I was originally planning to going to Syria, but I don't know now....State Dept has a travel warning listed right now. So if you wan to let me know your plans I'd be happy to consider meeting up or seeing what you have to say.

Dear all I've done this route, more or less, in various bits over a few years -- one time, Izmir-Jerusalem overland through Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, plus I used to live in Cairo a few years ago and travelled back and forth from there to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and then, later, I lived in Amman and travelled around Jordan and to Damascus and Egypt.
Anyway, that's a longwinded way to say if you have any questions, post them here or in the Middle East section and I'll try and help out!

Hello to you all. I'm heading to Iran in September, then aim to go through the stans to, (hopefully) Kabul.
