We are thinking about going to the Galapagos islands on a dive cruise. We would like to know how the conditions are under water (temperature, visibility, current, etc.) and wether you have to be an advanced diver or not.

Diving in the Galapagos is for advanced divers because of teh strong currents, strong surge, and cold waters. You'll want to wear a full 6 mm wetsuit with the hood. However, that being said, if your skills are up to it, the trip will hold memories of a lifetime. It's like being in the middle of the "Planet" TV series.
We took the Quasar Expeditions diving cruise from http://www.galapagosexpeditions.com/tabs/diving_cruises.php on the Lammer Law sailing yacht. We saw three whale sharks off Darwin in a single dive, plus hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, dolphins, sea lions, marine turtles, eagle rays, moray eels, and penguins. If you plan in advance, it's well worth improving your diving skills so you can get this amazing experience! |
