Hi, I'm an English Guy (33) and I live in Sydney (just over 3 yrs now). I work in IT but used to make clothes, write and take photos. I spend far too much cash on music and love it.

I've just bought a new car (after 3 years of public transport!) and plan to take 15 days off over the Easter period from 12th to 27th April (poss flexible return date) departing and returning to Sydney. I’ve decided to do a bit of a road trip. I was struck by the idea to advertise for a travel buddy in a backpacker bar the other day. Numerous reasons, cost, companionship, sharing the fact I have a car ... Anyone like to come with me? I'm pretty relaxed after the initial getting over no work shock period. I can also like most be a bit crazy and fun at times. I'm looking for a chow-mein of activity and relaxation. Preferably you will be female who is more of a traveller than a backpacker if you know what that is? My unusually low budget is AU$2k so that gives you a good idea, I’d prefer to do it for as little as comfortably possible, partying is not really what I’m after, done that three or four thousand times - gosh is that all, do the math! - it feels like a lot more, I think that’s good?

Travel wise either:
1). Cairns or Townsville via Arlie.
2). Melbourne (not for long), Great Ocean Road and then Adelaide thing. Preferably but not sure of cost.
3). Open to other good suggestions.

I guess I'm fairly easy and have travelled all around Oz a few years ago but never by car apart from the odd Byron escape or dive trip (BTW I'm a divemaster and if I can afford to would like to do some diving). Open to interesting other suggestions though.

I've a tent and most camping gear and don't mind using it but I am on holiday so half the cost of a room / apartment would be great, single supplements - the enemy of the Travelling Nomad.
