Hi there folks,
I have planned a "Following the ganges on foot" journey in India. I will start from Varanasi and travel along the Ganges river towards its origin, the Gangotri in the Himalayas. I plan to do most of the journey by foot. The idea is to avoid highways and soak up the culture, scenes and all that is on offer along the way. It is a pilgrimage-nomadic-backpacker kind of journey. I have planned my route well but there is always scope for diversions, delays, stayovers etc. I plan to do the trek till Gomukh and Nandanvan, a secluded scenic spot in the Himalayas where the the main Ganges tributary, the Bhagirathi emerges from a glacier. No religious/cultural/ethnic requirements. Just join in for fun if you want. We meet in Delhi in last week of November and the journey should take about 28 days at a leisurly pace. You can leave anytime you want. Email me for more info at tanashah123@hotmail.com PS: There are no fees etc, just be in Delhi/Varanasi on your own and take care of your own expenses along the road. If you need assistance to reach there email me. [This message was edited by Tana Shah on September 15, 2003 at 02:40 PM.] [This message was edited by Tana Shah on September 15, 2003 at 02:40 PM.] |
