Anyone fancy a demanding glacial trek to the summit of Mera Peak being highest trekking mountain in the Himilayas. I will be planning to trek to the summit of Mera Peak which is about 6500 metres- just under 22000 feet and will take about 12 day to get to the summit and about 4 days to return. Its an exciting challenge. It will be tough, extremely tiring but if sucessful the rewards will be out of this world.Im arranging the trip through a local company in Nepal called Kanali Expeditions. They will provide a guide and all the back up. Im travelling out from the United Kingdom on October 26th and will arrive in Kathmandu the following day. There will be time to explore this colourful city and experiencing the charm of the local Nepalese. The trek will begin with a nerve jingling mountain flight to Lukla where the trek commences. From here the trek begins in earnest passing through several glacial lakes and Rhododendron forests before reaching base camp at Mera La at an altitude of approximately 17 767 feet. From here one pushes on to High camp with the most stunning mountain scenery before making the final summit push. There are 3 summits, south, central and north. The north being the highest at 21247 feet and perfectly achievable to reach the summit. From the summit there are great views of Mount Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga and Cho Oya all at over 8000metres. On return I will be spending time at the Chitwan National Park looking for Bengal Tiger. I will depart from Nepal on the 25th November. If interested give me a call at 01226 791710 0r email me at jonathan@faill.fsnet.co.uk.
