Im wanting to take off at end of Sept 02 if poss. a bit nervous to go alone, have just turned 30, and on a career break, am really keen to get away and discover diff. cultures before it too late to go. Always dreamed of going to South America, esp. interested in the Inca Trail. Anyone like to come with me? Im real nice, just stepped out of media recruitment world, erratic mind, laid back style, life is too short to worry so my friends always tell me hence this decision to go although they still wrapped up in their careers, fair enough but right now not for me! Look forward to hearing from you.

I travelled to Peru last year and met up with four others, including two women, who all travelled more extensivelly and for longer than I did. The women experienced little hassle, as usual it was other travellers rather than locals who were more likely to be a problem. The South American cultures seem very respectful toward women travellers so if you find no travel partners do not let that put you off Peru. That being said one of my companions from last year went back to Peru this year and reports that the political situation is a little less stable than a year ago when Alejandro Toledo was newly elected, hopefully this will not affect travellers. The Inca trail is wonderful but I regret not seeing much else of Peru, maybe if I find no travel partners for India or Egypt we could talk about South America (spent five weeks in remote parts of Spain towards the end of last year and met hardly any travellers so got a bit lonely - would rather have a travel companion and go to somewhere further down my list than travel alone to top destination for the next trip).

Hi Gabby

I have to say you sound just like me. I'm pushing 30 and at the stage in my life where I too would like to see more of the world and experince different cultures, that aren't about work, money, stress etc.

I feel my job is very demanding (banking) and takes up alot of my time and energy. I would see travelling also as a "getting to know me again" experience.

I would be looking to travel in Jan/Feb 2003 but not just to S. Am. Let me know if you're still in the UK or where you might be at that time.

A fellow escapee!!

Are either Gabby or Cat still around? I've recently decided to travel to South America and plan to leave end Jan '03 for a few months. It's great to hear of fellow girlies who are 30, wanting a challenge, adventure and might also be travelling at the same time next year.

Was thinking of going it alone or with a group on one of those tours but would much prefer to hook up with like minded companions. Having travelled independently/with a few friends to SEA and Oz etc 7 years ago, I know how much better it can be.

I also fancy India and Cambodia but know this might have to be a separate trip as these areas are not easy to tie in with S America!

Hi Gabby

My name is Lucy I'm 26 and am in working for a Media buying and planning company. I am fed up with the whole career thing and want to get out of the country before I completely crack up and die of boredom! I'm looking to go in June 2003, but am not 100% sure on where to go. The places that interest me are Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, Goa and I wouldn't mind returning to OZ for a bit. The Inca trail is something I have wanted to do since reading the Celestine Prophecy!! Let me know what your plans are maybe we could hook up along the way.

Lucy,

Hi. Similar age, similar idea here. I'm 27, currently work in London, but travelling in the new year. I will be in Oz in June '03, then moving on to NZ then South America (Chile, Peru, Brazil). Maybe we could meet up, or travel together part of the way ?

Drop me a line : glenn_hadgraft@yahoo.com
