Hi all!

I am planning to visit Morocco over Christmas/NY this year, and am interested in travelling to the High Atlas Mountains as well as the Sahara Desert.

I will be based in Marrakech (though that can easily be changed to any other major city in Morocco) and am not too keen on joining a large tour group to do this, and at the same time dont wanna pay too much to rent a 4X4 to do this myself.
Am wondering if there is someone who is interested in joining me to split costs on a trip that'll cover the above two areas.

I am looking at a combined trip (mountains and desert) that'll last maybe 4-6 days. I would like to do a fair bit of trekking, and one of my life long dreams has been to spend a night in the desert! Apart from that, I am flexible with anything...

If you are interested, do let me know! Ideally, I see myself sharing a 4X4 with 2-4 other people, if I can find them!

Can frequent travellers to Morocco tell me if it is possible to find and organize this in Marrakech? I hear that the Ali hotel is an option, but do their tours tend to be very touristy and tacky, with more driving and stopping off at souvenier shops/photo-ops than actual trekking, and seeing cool stuff??

The dates I plan to be in Morocco are 22 dec - 3 jan. And i am willing to do this at any time within these dates.

To give you a rough idea of waht i wanna do:
Start at Marrakech --- drive through Tizi-n-Test Pass (assuming it is not snowed out!) ---- towards the Anti Atlas for some trekking there, if weather allows ---- Ouarzazate (for the nearby Kasbah's) ---- Merzouga (possibly night in the desert as well!) ---- Todra/Dades Gorge --- Telouet ----- drive through the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass on way back to Marrakech.
