We'd like to do a camel trek to Timbuktu in May 2004. Could anyone provide any tips on how to do this? Would May be a good time to go?

Sorry if you have read my email on the branch already but seeing as you might be going to Mali in a couple of months, please read on in case while you're there you hear anything about my friend Chris, who went missing there almost one year ago.

He was travelling in the footsteps of Mungo Park, the famous explorer, along the route of the Niger River. He last called home on 23 March 2003 from Kita in western Mali and then planned to travel on to Bamako and then the river, which he was follow all the way through to Nigeria. His family have been working hard over the past year to find out what has happened to him, and hope to send out a second search party next month.
