I didn't understand why the guide had so little on Agadir. Now I have been I understand. If you have any thoughts on the real Morocco you will not find much evidence of it here. The people are fantastic and full of smiles and they are not after your wallet.Loads of Police about and its safe to wander around at all hours of the day and night.The town is forty years old and to be honest is in a bit of a mess.Our guide told us that anything below Blvd Hassan 11 is tourist land. Prices for meals drop by half on the landward side of this road.Excellent inexpensive fish meals to had in the port area. Freshly caught and cooked in front of you.The new marina blocks the old entrance route to the port. Watch the roads, pedestrian crossings are graffiti. Anything orange with a Fiat/Peugeot badge treat with care. They are called Petit Taxis, non under 15 years old and its amazing if the doors shut! The white Mercs are not much better and cost more for the same level of danger.No problem with changing money, loads of cash machines/exchanges and the rate is fixed so you get the same exchange rate whereever you go. (15.66 d to the £1.00 24/02/06).We didn't do very much as we were looking to relax but walking is safe and everywhere is within easy walking distance. The Souk is a must. Ignore the supposed guides by the first gate, carry on up the road and use the second.third or fourth gates. The place is like a rabbit warren but easy to navigate. Fruit & veg from the first gate then into wood working, electronics, clothing etc etc etc. Brilliant place for photgraphy, watch out for the waiters. Gaily clad in red conical hats and red costumes. They will pose for a few dirhams but dont try and sneak a shot! They get very voluable.
All in all a good place to go if all you want to do is relax by the sea. You wont find Morocco here though.
