How long would 2 000 USD last for travelling in Egypt - staying at budget pensions, doing day tours in Cairo, using the bus to Luxor/Aswan and perhaps including Alex, no shopping unless a momento or 2, no eating at restaurants, perhaps a 2 day Nile cruise on a Felucca ( is this a possibilty? I am a single female traveller planning on going to Egypt end Aug/Sep.

You can stay at top end hotels and still go home with money left in your pocket. but, are you including the ticket in this.even, then you can easily get by with the remaining left.

I am travelling to egypt in July. Besides the air ticket,I purchased the ticket for a 5 star nile cruise for 270 dollars and american express tour for 45 dollars for pyramids and for everything else I am using mid-range hotels, bus or train to travel between some cities. I am thinking that 500 dollars in addition to this is more than enough.

the average salary for ordinary egyptian is around 100 to 150 us dollars.

for your response. I'd appreciate it if you'd keep contact by informing me about your experience the cost - airport transfer, accommodation, mode of transport used within Egypt.

I shall be going to Egypt for 3 weeks in October. First hand experience so close to departure is much better than stories of experiences of long ago.
