It was our seventh stay in Marrakech in seven years. Always with the same fascination.
The most difficult is to choose the right place to stay, given the superabundant supply. To enjoy the Moroccan tempo, you must be in the “medina” (old town), and to have comfort, quietness, and architectural beauty, you must find a “riad”. But they are so many!
After seven years, we finally found the riad we dreamt of, riad Isabel in Bab Doukkala. The house is beautiful, with marble in the patio and roses in the fountains. Our room was large and bright, with a bathroom in “tadelakt”. Breakfast and diner were delicious, service was gracious and cleanliness impeccable.
But the emphasis should especially be on our hostess, Isabelle, her kindness, her availability, her continuous attentions. We spoke of anything. The new Moroccan government, local cooking or detective novels in the riad library.
Of course, we did it in French, but we could have done it in English, with a few mistakes. Isabelle will welcome you in English the way she welcome us. We hope so for you. In any case, our next, eighth stay in Marrakesh will be in riad Isabel.
