I just returned from a fantastic trip in Tanzania. My trip included a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro via the Machame route and a few photo safaris. I want to recommend the company that I made my arrangements with and that made my trip so great: Duma Explorer. The tour company organized my climb of Kilimanjaro and a safari through Ngorongoro crater. Both were excellent, and it was an ideal situation having one company coordinate both parts of my trip. It saved me a lot of time and effort by not having to arrange my safari and climb separately.

I believe my trip turned out so well because I was very well prepared before I left the U.S. The company I booked with helped extensively with my preparation by answering all my questions in advance down to the last detail, such as packing lists, medication, health insurance, local transportation, etc. I was greatly surprised to get equally impressive attention from the company once I arrived in Tanzania. …very personalized to the individual and exceptionally knowledgeable. The travel support from Duma was so good because they have offices and staff in the U.S. and Tanzania, which all tour companies can not claim.

I would definitely book through Duma Explorer for any return trips to Tanzania. Especially because they did a great job organizing my Kilimanjaro climb. I climbed Kili with a group of 13 tourists and we ALL made it to the summit! Even my 56 year old Dad made it to the summit with no problems. I attribute it to the quality of Duma’s guides that were very interested in how we were feeling at all times during the climb.

I can’t wait to go back to Tanzania. If you are considering your first trip and are looking for a tour company that you can trust, I definitely recommend checking out Duma Explorer. My other advice for a great trip: bring a camera with at least 12X optical zoom for safari and a back-up disposable camera for the top of Kili in case your digital freezes up.
