We (a family of 4 women, ages 29, 54, 53 and 72) visited Kenya and Tanzania on a 13 day camping safari in mid September 2005 with Mountsafaris Adventures and Jeremiah Gathu as our guide.
We are into ecotourism and wanted to book through a local Kenyan tour company to keep the money in the country so the locals profit from our visit. We spent over 5 months online contacting various tour operators requesting quotes with our custom itinerary and we found Mountsafaris to be very flexible and offered the best options, customized to exactly what we wanted – just the 4 of us and where we wanted to visit. And they offered best prices by far. Jeremiah and the group were all very helpful throughout the entire planning process as well as on the safari and we found them to be very knowledgeable and professional.

We traveled by van to Aberdares, Nakuru, Naivasha, Mara, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangire. While at the Mara we stayed at Mara Springs Camp which isn't roughing it by any means! We stayed in a large room tent w/ a floor, real bed and bedding and the camp had hot showers (very uniquely heated) and flush toilets. The camp is very close to the east entrance to the Mara. The experience of staying at Mara Springs camp with our own cook was a much better experience than a lodge stay. While at the Mara we visited a Massai compound and at Lake Manyara we visited the village of Mto Wa Mbu, both were excellent learning experiences and are highly recommended.
The highlights of our trip were: Seeing the Big 5; mating lions; mother cheetah and 4 baby cubs; nursing elephants, zebras and hartbeests; and watching a cheetah make a kill. Our driver, Stanley knew exactly where to go to get the best photos.
Mountsafaris and Jeremiah took excellent care of us and made sure our every need was met so we experienced the best safari ever.
