I'm planning a trip to Gambia for next Jan, Feb or March and would really appreciate people's opinions and tips. Up until now my 'travel CV' contains the likes of Greece, France, Spain, Holland etc so it'll be my first trip outside Europe.

We're planning something similar. Probably grab a late deal from teletext in February. Prices were pretty good this year - as low as £199 for a weeks half board.
We're mostly interested in wildlife/birding and we'll probably hire a guide and driver and take two or three nights out for a trip up river, possibly with a brief excursion into Senegal. Having looked at a couple of guide books and read several birdwatchers' trip reports, this appears both feasible and affordable and a bit more interesting than spending a week in a beach resort. |

Is there any books or tourist information web site about Gambia?

There's a Lonely Planet guide (Gambia & Senegal) - and as this is a Rough Guide site, might be polite to check their catalogue.
