hi
What do people think about travelling in ethiopia in the midst of a famine?

A number of people have changed their plans to travel to ethiopia while others have decided to go regardless.

There appears to be a number of people you have been put off by the recent media coverage surrounding the famine.

Does anyone have an opinion on this issue?

Yo won't contribute to the hunger proble by canceling your trip. Also, tourism is a significant source of revenue for Ethiopia, and if many people cancel their trips because of food problems, the net result will be more poverty.

Finally, keep in mind that famine is almost always a problem of distribution, not lack of food. If you can reach a place in Ethiopia as atourist, chances are food distribution also can...

Besides, Ethiopia is a wonderful and unique place - would be a shame to miss it.
