I've just spent a very restful couple of nights at the Afica Village guest farm, near hoima (signposted from the town centre). It's set up as an ecotourism centre. Lots of birds and monkeys around, plus cows, donkeys and camels in padocks. There are short trails to follow, and a museum/art gallery. lots of african sculptures around the farm. Accommodation is in very comfortable african hut-style cottages - with hot showers, flush toilets, and mosquito nets. There's a restuarant with good food, or BBQ your own. 30,000 Ush for a double B&B. Very friendly and secure. It makes a good escape from Kampala, or a stopover on the way to Murchison falls. various things to see nearby - lake Albert, cultural sites linked to the monarchy, and hot springs.
