I'm on the verge of booking a 3 week trip to Senegal and the Gambia in July. I've read in the RG and elsewhere that this is the rainy season there and that the wet roads can make travel difficult and also, that many National Parks are closed. Is this just a warning or is it really a bad time to visit? Will we have to contend with rain throughout our trip and avoid places or will it just make for slower bus ride to the countryside? Will it be so bad that we will be shut indoors the majority of the trip or will we just encounter a short storm in the afternoon. Please advise to help me get perspective on this.
Also, if you have any suggestions for our itinerary, please don't hold back. We have some Senegalese contacts that we are going to look up but otherwise no concrete plans. Thanks in advance for your help. Laurie |
