Has anyone visited Zimb recently (say in the last one month or two)? How is the condition there, esp. in Vic Falls and Hwange? Is it still safe for tourist to travel there? Thanks a bunch.

The last time we tried to go to Zimbabwe, the line up at the border was miles long. They do not let just anyone in and make it very uncomfortable for those waiting. I run a tour company in South Africa and we have stopped sending people there - it's just too iffy. There is so much to see in this country and other neighbouring countries that it has not really posed a problem yet. If you wanted to see the Falls, you can see the Zambia side or take a walk across the bridge there to Zimbabwe - US$10 cash only. But if you do, stay on the path and with other people. One tourist went off the path and was murdered not too long ago. It might have been an isolated incident and probably was but the general atmosphere there has definitely been better.
