Hiya,
My name's Claire, I would like to travel to cape town with two friends for three months. However we've heard conflicting reports as to how safe cape town is, especially for three girls travelling alone. Does anyone have any advice? Best Wishes Claire |

I spent 3 weeks in CP a couple of years ago, stayed at Long St. Backpackers. Excellent people and security.
No problems walking around town day or night, keep to main roads, look confident and get a good street map. If your fit hike Table Mt. or Lions rock, both unbelievable at sunset. Happy Trais - D.R. |

Don't believe all the paranoid stories you hear and read. Cape Town is totally safe provided you exercise reasonable caution.
Have a GREAT trip. |

Well, Cape Town is pretty safe by South African standards. Still, you don't want to be walking around by yourself at night.
South Africa deserves its reputation for crime. When I was there, almost half the travelers I met had been mugged during their trip. It's still worth going there. The place is amazing. Just be cautious! Jason Kester --- Blogabond - Travel Blogs and a bunch of cool people Document your Dirtbagging! |
