My job has recently posted me to Algiers in Algeria.Has anyone recently visited this country?
Any information is much appreciated as there are no current books or guides available. Is it safe to move in the city / country? Has anyone had experience in taking the ferry from ALGIERS to Europe? How is public transport? Is it an expensive country?

Algeria is notoriously dangerous. Is the job so good that it's worth risking your life for?

Algeria is one of the most dangerous countries in Africa...even on the (british) foreign office website it is listed as one of the countries you should consider going to only on essential buisness.
