I have two daughters (21 and 20)who are great Jazz fans so this year I booked them 5 days in New Orleans during the Jazz festival. I've since been told that I am being reckless and that New Orleans is not safe for two young ladies on their own. Now I don't know if I should be worrying or not and would really like to hear from someopne who could give me a first-hand and honest opinion of the place. Thanks in advance.

My son went to Tulane. We visited him 3 times and fell in love with the city. I think it is as safe as any other city. Your girls should use common sense and they will be fine. I can tell you jazz fest is fun and crowded, very crowded. But it's an oppertunity not to be missed....great talent.
