Im irish, 23, male, full clean licence. what problems will i have in buying a car in San Fran in early June? i expect to pay about $1000 on a car (what would be the best model?) where would be the best place to get insurance? how long will it take before i can drive the car away? (planning on driving to colorado to work). does anyone know any reputable dealers? thanks for any help you can give me

Barry, in the USA there are far more cars than the number of people that want to buy one so there will be no problem in buying a car. You don't want to spend anywhere near $1000, thats too much for what you need. In California you can buy a good car for $250. Go to a newsagent and buy an ad-mag. a magazine where people sell things that they don't want. My friends bought a really nice car for $300 from a police pound, so try and locate one of those.
