Looking for a good recommendation as to where to stay in san francisco.. looking for a medium priced hotel near to where it's all happening! Suggestions please..trip is for my partner's 40th Birthday.

Hi, It's a while since I went to San Francisco but we stayed down at Fishermans Wharf at the Travelodge and used public transport to get around.
