Any good ideas for how to spend New Year in LA? We're looking for a good party and a chilled out New Year's day!

Is it worth booking accomodation for 31 Dec -2 Jan beforehand? We'll looking for a pretty budget place, not sure if it'll be all booked up.

To be honest unless someone can come up with something interesting that I don't know about I actually don't think LA is a very good place to celebrate New Year. There's no real focal point unless you go to Disneyland or maybe the Rose Parade in Pasedena. I only suggested Santa Monica as it's a nice place but not because you'll have a wild time! Wining and dining and a party if you're lucky. San Fransico might be a better option if you can do it.
