Hi. I'll be visiting Canada for the first time for 18 nights in June/July. I'll be concentrating on Quebec, but would like to take a wilderness train ride.
Would you recommend the Polar Bear Express, Quebec and Labrador North Shore, or the Abitibi from Montreal to Senneterre in terms of scenic attractions? Suburbanian- exiled from LP for challenging fascism |

the answer to your question might lie in your limited time period(18 days?). the train from
Montreal to Senterre will be the easiest to schedule, especially if you're already using any type of pass for ViaRail. to get the Polar Bear, you need to go all the way to Winnipeg (Manitoba), and the QL&NS runs out of Baie Comeau, Que., and is not connected to any other rail system. it takes some time to get that far up the North Shore of the St.Lawrence to where it starts but is by far the best wilderness ride. hope this helps. |

Thanks for the information.
One thing though, the Polar Bear Express runs out of Cochrane, Ontario, to Moosonee, Ontario. The train to Churchill is a different service altogether! |
