My eldest son is studying at a US college and I intend to bring my
two younger sons to visit him during his summer break. One of the
things he misses most is Singapore food. As such I intend to bring
some foodstuff for him. Can you let me know whether we are allowed
to bring foodstuff into US? I have been asking around but get
different answers from different people. Some of the foodstuff I
intend to bring are: Bak Kwa, Chinese sausage, salted fish, fish
maw, canned pork chops, canned curry tuna, spices/pastes such as
Bak Kut Teh, Sambal, etc.and some home-made cookies.
thanks

You are definitely NOT allowed to bring food into the US. When you enter the country you will be asked to fill in a customs declaration form, which you have to sign to say that (amongst other things) you're not bringing food into the US.

As of 15th December 03, you are no longer allowed to post food to the States either. This includes home made cookies.

I believe it has something to do with terrorism..
