I have a couple of questions to those who have backpacked across the US. Firstly where did you stay and did you have to book? All my research so far into accomodation has said that you have to book in advance to get a bed and i was wondering how you got around this?

Secondly, in your experience, how much would you expect to spend a week or a day on food if you were on a lower budget trip in cities like New York and LA?
