Hi everyone.

I'm going to be in Chicago for 4 days at the beginning of August and wondered if anyone can tell me some of the best things to do. I'm going to be alone for much of the time and also wondered where's good to eat if you're a female travelling by yourself. Does anyone know any good site with information apart from this one or Lonely Planet?

Cheers

• Art Institute of Chicago
• Sears Tower
• The Skyline at Sunset
The sunset cruises of the Chicago Architecture by Boat tours give you the city's impressive skyline
• Chicago Blues
Chicago is chock-full of flavorful nightclubs for urban blues, such as the storied Checkerboard Lounge on the South Side.
• Oak Park
Stroll through Oak Park, the lush suburb once home to Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright – with Hemingway memorabilia at the neighborhood's Historical Society.

The Drake hotel is famous for its Roaring Twenties ambience and may be a good place to grab a cocktail or afternoon tea.
Shopping on Michigan Ave. or at famed seven story department store Marshall Field's.

As far as restaurants..
Streeterville venues seem to be a little more expensive, but for a treat - NoMi in the Park Hyatt has great views and a French-inspired, yet sushi inclusive menu.
Atwood Cafe in The Loop has giant windows for people watching and contemporary American cuisine.
Vinci in Old Town has rustic Italian fare and a "warm and inviting" atmosphere, moderately priced.
In Chinatown some options may be Emperor's Choice, Penang or Won Kow.

Have a drink at the top of the hancock. Its got spectacular views and is cheaper than visiting the observation deck.

Rent a bike or rollerblades and take a trip along the path at the lake.

Visit Millenium park and eat a picnic lunch... then hit the art institute.

Chicago is great... especially in the summer! Enjoy!
