if you're wanting to get to the Arctic Ocean(or MacKenzie Delta, at least) the Dempster Highway
is your only option. Access to the Arctic Ocean
by the Dalton Highway has been closed by British Petroleum citing post 9-11 security concerns. As
it is primarily an oilfield facility, Prudhoe Bay
(Deadhorse)does not have much, and the ocean coast looks looks more like the shore of a large
lake(no waves, no tides, no sand, no visible sea
life)so you wouldn't be missing much.
