Hello everybody,

Has anyone out there stayed at the Olympic Hotel on Mason Street, San Francisco?

Is it an okay place to stay? Is it a total dump that's best avoided?

And what about that section of Mason Street, just off Market Street. . . is it really nasty after dark or simply "urban?"

Your thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure about the Olympic but the whole of San Fran felt very safe (more so than anywhere I've been before - even when walking around late at night. Some areas away from the main streets are a bit rough due to the homeless problem but you just need to keep your wits about you.
Mason-market is a busy area (esp for shopping) so there are always people about.

If in doubt, take a cab or bus/tram about.
