hey, i'm thinking of travelling to NY for a period of about one-one half months in a couple of weeks time. I'm travelling on my own, so can anybody give me some advice about where are the best hostels in NY, best prices etc. Also looking for advice about how much money i think i might need. I've been States side before, having spent 4 months in San Diego(best place ever). I'm also looking to get some Barwork experience in New York, particularily in the Irish Bars(i've 6 years experience in Ireland + 6 months working in Bars in Australia), what would the chance be of getting bar work without a proper working Visa? (could i get them to sponser me?) also what's the story with entry into USA now with visa's etc?. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated

If you are going to stay in NY for that length of time, renting an apartment would be a better choice than staying in a hostel. you can go to craigslist.org and click on the New York link and search under housing. They also have a job search. I dont know about Visa's. The Bush admin. is making it pretty damn difficult for people to visit, especially if they want to work.
