HI there,

My girlfriend and I are about to go to America and want to buy a car, and drive coast to coast. We would like to know if anyone knows how to go about getting car insurance and what the laws are. I already have an international licence, however we have been told that we cant get it as we do not have any proof of residency. A family member who lives in boston MA, has said that we can use her address as our stable residence, but we don't know if this is enough.

Also, if anyone knows of any insurance companies in the Boston area, the will insure foriegn drivers, that would be a great help.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

I advise you won't buy a car, but it'll be better for you to rent it... Usually the rented cars have insurance!

I think alex is right, better off renting until you have residence in the USA.
