Hi - does anyone have a great recommendation for a nice B&B in New England, within 3-4 hours from NYC? We're looking for a long weekend getaway and would like to be in or near a nice town and/or a state park with some hiking and scenery.

I've got a great place in Vermont but I don't know if you're interested in going that far. It's called Sinclair Inn. The number is 802/899-2234. I was there in 1996 so I'm not sure if it's run by the same people, but when I was there it was marvelous!

I'd recommend the Apple Gate Bed and Breakfast (tel 1-603-924-6543) near Peterborough, New Hampshire, which was run by Ken and Dianne when I stayed there in July 2000. Charming place, great part of the world.
