Hello! My wife's and I have a tenth anniversary coming up... we usually go a local trip to a B&B in the surrounding states. Thought this year we might go somewhere a bit warmer instead. Only problem is we know nothing about the south!

Here's what we like:
- B&B's (mmm breakfast!)
- Beer-related activitys (mmmm brewpubs!)
- Museums, art and some history
- Being able to relax in a comfotable enviroment with a... weel beer.
- Option to do activities if we're bored, such as tours or something else related to the local culture
- Not completely overrun by tourist (such as Orlando)

So anyways, I'm hoping it might be somewhere that is a least a little romantic also. Two thoughts we had were Savannah and New Orleans... Any thoughts from anyone would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Bill;
I highly recommend Natchez Mississippi Pilgrimage
for a romantic spring getaway. This year it will be March 12 thru April 16, 2005. The Garden Club hosts open house tours at many of Natchez's historic old homes during the pilgrimage. Some are private homes that are closed to the public at other times. Costumed tour guides will tell you interesting things about each estate you visit.

You can stay in a historic antebellum mansion since many are also B & B's.
Ride in a horse drawn carriage to see and smell spring dogwoods and azaleas. Go down to the Mississippi River front to see the old steam paddlewheelers. If your wife enjoys costumed dancers take her to the Historic Natchez Pageant. Local young people perform unusual historic dances. Taste some pralines. Have a mint julip. Enjoy life southern style!

We had a very romantic 2nd honeymoon in Natchez a few years ago. What a lovely time we had!

If your up for an area that covers everything from Candle lit dinners and Walks in the Park and Some of the best in terms of Bed & Breakfasts and Those small Brew-pubs that have become a staple in the area. Asheville NC just off I-40 in the mountains of north carolina. Provides alot of options of things to do with in an hour or 2 of drive time. You have Kayaking, National(Great Smoky Mountain National Park) and State Parks, White Water Rafting, Brew Pubs, Shopping, and Even Gambling. Though its to only Casino with-in 6 hours drive, i would resist the urge if i were you. I used to work there. There are senic drives just a few miles from town. You can hit the Blue Ridge Parkway which runs from Cherkoee NC all the way thru asheville up into Virginia Just outside of Washington DC. Its a great trip especially if you have a motorcycle. The Trip Makes its way to the top of the Mountains where the Views out across the North Carolina Foothills are Breath taking. To the Views Across the Tennesse Valley which are just as breath taking. If you would like to know more just let me know.
