Public transportaion in the US is not nearly as handy as in other countries. The main bus system (Greyhound Bus) is cutting back on its routes. Amtrack (the train system) is also intermittent in its service. The best thing to do is check out these companies on the web and look at their routes. Make sure that you will be able to get to all of these places before you make any definative plans.

Personally, I would rent a car. You can get a budget car and drive to the places you mentioned if you don't mind the drive-time. Plus you'll have the freedom to make your own schedule and see anything you want to along the way.

Thats the problem. i dont have a drivers licence. and my opinions is dat lots of people already rent a car and i want to do something else than the others.
If you use greyhound whit a pass you can go off the bus where you want they use the road aswell

Well the problem is you're going to too many places too far apart from each other with nothing other than public transport. You will not have a good time.

If I were you I'd stick to the west coast, make a plan and work out an itinerary to popular destinations and get on some tours or you'll end up not seeing a thing. You could do San Francisco to San Diego stopping off on the way at places of interest then Vegas via Palm Springs then from Vegas a day trip to the Grand Canyon before returning to San Francisco.

I'm sure I heard they were stopping the train to Vegas?*

*just checked this out and apparently you have to catch the bus there.

Check out my reply to the "North American Rail Pass" question posed by "JennyNumpkins". Remember that distances in the USA are huge and Greyhound buses are pretty uncomfortable. I recommend getting a railpass and going by train.
