Hiya,
We went to East Canada in December last year so I don't know how that compares with the West but it was very very cold (I am used to British temperatures) and a lot of snow so be prepared for the weather! However things don't grind to a halt like they do in Britain so the snowy atmosphere is much more fun. Very Christmasy! Up side is that everything is much cheaper cos they don't seem to get a lot of tourists round that time of year. We contacted the local tourist infos and got lots of cheap accomodation and Christmas activity details emailed to us. Best bit was ice skating on the St Lawrence river - you don't get to do that in Summer! |

It's not too likely that it will be snowy in Vancouver - that city gets more rain than snow. But you can go skiing in the mountains nearby if you are into that. Be prepared for rain and dampness since you will be by the ocean (you are probably used to some of that). The best thing about Vancouver in my opinion is the natural environment, so plan to get out of the city if you can! Go on the ferries to the gulf islands or up along the coast, or if you've got time, go to the Rockies about one long day's drive away. (But that WILL be cold.) If you like nightlife I heard they have lots of rave-type stuff but I don't know. Have a great time!
