I am going to spend a week in Nicaragua this March. Basically I am starting in Managua and I am flexible from there. I plan on hitting Granada, Leon and a beach or two on the Pacific side. Since I do not speak Spanish I am a little concerned about the logistic of getting around and seeing a lot of the country.

Are there any don't miss things or places on my first trip there?

Any tips would be appreciated.

loved nica. spent a month there w/my non existent spanish and crappy phrasebook. honest smiles and sad attempts at spanish got me around just fine (and alone for 2 weeks, a woman!). enjoyed leon, hooked up w/a european turned local guy at via via hostel who took a buncha us to old prison for amazing vista. not reccomended to do alone. volcano hike. beautiful, mellow beach at las penitas.
