I am jetting off to Mexico in the new year for a couple of months of sun, sea and adventure. But funds are low and i need to know how easy work is to come by. If anyone has any tips on where to look it would be a great help.

hi mattc

teaching english is probably your safest and best bet. jobs are quite easy to come by (local newspapers), well paid by english standards and you can work anything up to 30 hrs per week. if you teach privately, they pay more and prefere non-spanish speakers (all they want to do is improve their conversational skills).
hope this helps

The sad truth may be that you really cannot work in Mexico. Often when obtaining the travel papers at the border you have to show that you have adequate funds for your trip. They can refuse to allow you to enter the country if you do not have enough money. It is against the law in Mexico to work while having a tourist card, it is almost impossible to get permission to "just find a job" If you worked for a large corporation that had business in Mexico you could probably get permission. Maybe you could "unofficially" work as an English instructor, but remember you are violating their laws. So, be careful.

Maybe your best bet is to go on a budget. You can really live almost incredibly cheaply in Mexico especially if you are camping, like on the beach. Even hotels can be a real bargain if you will shop around.
