Apart from spending time Tortuguero National Park it would be fun it enjoy the night life on the Eastern Coast. Any interesting experiences on that coast or even in San Jose??
Thanks

Hi John

There's virtually no nightlife in Tortuguero - that's one of the delights of the place. You'll want to be out and about by 6 a.m. so the lodges get very quiet after 9 p.m.

I would completely avoid San Jose except for the airport. If you need to stay in the area, look at Orosi (the Orosi Lodge is lovely and inexpensive) - less than an hour from the airport and about 100 years in terms of culture. There's a few restaurants and if you're lucky you can watch a real football (soccer) match whilst eating.

For a different nightlife, either of the two well know 'resorts' on the SE Coast, Cahuita and Puerto Viejo are charming and laid back. PV is probably the more interesting of the two, but near Cahuita, if you're driving is the gorgeous Aviarios Del Caribe which is well worth a couple of nights.

thanks for the hints chris. i figured that Totugeuro would be quiet. We'll probably spend a night or two in San Jose and figure things out from there.

cheers
John
