Just want to warn all fellow travellers about Hostel Shalom, Puerto Escondido.You will see elsewhere on this site that it gets a "highly recommended" from one another traveller.This does not accord with my experience nor with the majority view on like minded web sites for travellers,hostellers,backpackers etc.
Apart from being poor quality and poor value for money , it operates a rip off policy on deposits and advance payments.You never get your money back if you cancel a booking even with reasonable notice eg 2 hours after original booking in my case.Equally if you shorten your planned stay because you can no longer stand the place( a common experience)there is no money back.Oh did I not mention it ? They always want you to pay in full and in advance.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, much better to be had within the area.I will post full travel log to give recommendations.
