Day trip from Guadalajara to the Ruins of Teuchitlan
A nice day trip from Guadalajara is to visit this special archaeological site of 'los guachimontones' in Teuchitlán. Teuchitlán represents one of the first settlement systems with a civilised lifestyle in this area. The circular structures, over two thousand years old are found in the midst of the central valleys of Jalisco. Travel one and a half hours to the west of Guadalajara, in an area surrounded by hills and mountains to find these great archaeolgical ruins. Take in a visit to the excellent museum and free guide through the archaeological site to learn of the homesteads, temples and artifacts of these ancient peoples. You can take a bus from the old bus station from Guadalajara to Teuchitlan. The bus trip takes you about 1,5 hours to the village. There you have to walk up the hill to the Archaeological site. On the road to the ruins from teuchitlan you find on your left site a place where they sell Pulke which is an old mexican drink that is made from the juice of the maguey and then fermented. On the other side from the village there is a lake with several nice restaurants. One of the better ones is the restaurant called Soky.
