I am looking to hire a personal guide for the ruins. I was told that they are available but I have not a clue where to look for such a person. Can anyone offer any advice? We will be staying in Playa del Carmen April 7-14.

Thanks!

Guides almost always will tell you a few things that just aren't true. My favorite is when they say that the winners of ritual ball games were sacrificed or that it is not certain. I suggest that you get Joyce Kelly's Archaeological to Ruins in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula either from your library or Inter-library loan and copy the pages relevant to Chichen Itza and be your own guide.

Thank you. I have been looking to do just that... be my own guide. I had heard about the over exaggeration for dramatic effects given by the guides at Chichen Itza.

I have been looking for a good book about the area. Any other advice I should know before going?

Thanks!
