I am planning on flying into Cancun on 26/04/05 and maybe staying at Playa del Carmen for a day or two, en route to Honduras. I need to be in San Pedro Sula, Honduras for the evening of 29/04/05. I wanted to get a cheap flight or bus or train there (I am on a tight budget!), but I can only find flights going via Miami, etc and at great cost. The only Mexican bus services I can find seem to stop at Chetumal, Q'Roo, Mexico, and not cross the border into Belize. Do any buses go through Belize and on to Honduras, preferably with as few stops as possible? If so, does anyone know how often they are and how much they cost and how long they take? If I were you, I would give up any idea of spending time in Playa. If you fly ASAP to Flores, Guatemala, you will be closer to your goal. I think that Tikal Jets does this route. You could either fly or bus on to Guate and head from there to Honduras.

Mayaphile: Thank you for your help. However there's now been a change of plan - I am flying direct to Honduras (more expensively!). I am joining a Coral Cay marine research expedition on Roatan, Bay Islands, and was going to make my own way there to cut costs. I was hoping to fly to Cancun cheaply (as I am a flight attendant and we fly there) and then make my way to Honduras over next 3 days, but I can't get enough time off work to allow me to get back to Cancun afterwards for the return flight! Next time I'll plan further in advance...and go for longer! I've checked out your website (very informative!) and added it to my favourites for future reference!
