I would like to inform about my experience with "Tani Tours" in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
We booked for a "Jungle Tour" to Mismaloya...our price was $40 US (we booked from a rep on the beach) We later found out that many of the other people were charged different amounts. Their bus picked us up at our resort, took us downtown & separated us according to which tour we were suppose to go on. Our bus was air conditioned..and our first stop was to use the bathroom at a jewelry store (where we were also served an alcoholic drink or two or three...)
Of course the jewelry was gorgeous and the claim to fame was that it was authentic stones...I haven't had mine appraised as of yet...but I'm sure the stones are not what I was told them to be. Then we visited the set where the "Night of the Iguana" was filmed.....Then we went to a Tequila Factory out in the bushes...tasted some tequila ...and of course, we could also buy...2 bottles costed us $48 US ...then we visited a small waterfall for a short time...just to get our feet wet...then we went to a restaurant up on the hill......and the food was very expensive (Starting at $16 US ) We headed back and all of a sudden the windows had to be opened or we would have died from heat exhaustion.
I really believe that this tour was to make our guide and his relatives rich...I really believe that every place we stopped was to have us spend money and our guide got a commission. I DO NOT
recommend "Tani Tours" to anyone... WE LEARNED THE HARD WAY. Mismaloya is beautiful, but I could have taken a Taxi there and back for the money involved.
