I am from Indonesia and would love to go to Brazil in February 2002 for being in the Rio de Janeiro's Samba Carnival. I really do not have any ideas what to see and where to go while I visit Brazil (my main purpose is to be in the Carnival)....But, since I am already in Brazil, do you think anybody can assist me in recommending what to see and where to go??? Thanks....

In Brazil, the best place for Carnival and samba is actually Salvador not Rio, although Rio is still loads of fun. The samba parades are done in Rio in a main outdoor arena which the samba schools compete against one another. Tickets are hard to get, but scalpers are around and bribing is possible to get in as well.

Even if you can't get in to see the official competition, samba is everywhere during that time of year and people are celebrating on the streets. Brazil is a really great place to visit, beautiful places and people!
