Passport and visa issues in Guatemala

Passport and visa issues have changed: there are no more border control posts between Guatemala and Honduras and El Salvador. For prolongation of your Guatemalan visa, you need to go to Mexico or Belize (or to the migration office of INGUAT in Guatemala City).

If you don´t want to travel, you need to get an extension from Migración, INGUAT building, 6a Avenida Zona 4 Guate City and bring your passport plus a full photocopy (cover too!) and your creditcard and a copy of both sides or your flight ticket with a fixed fly back date on it. It costs you 114Q and you will need to come back three days later to pick it up. Opening hours of migration are Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm. This gives you another 90 days.
