I am planning a trip to Honduras in mid-January.
Has anyone been diving in Honduras? What was your experience like? Positive? Negative? What were conditions like? I want specifically to do some wreck diving? Any input is much apreciated. |

My girlfriend and I stayed in West End in Roatan for 1 week this past Feb. The dive sites are all withing 5-15 minutes of the shore and are very nice. I dove El Aguila shipwreck, which is close to Anthony's Key Resort and it was pretty nice (I think you go to a dept of around 115 ft or so). I believe there are more wreck dives on the other side of the island. We dove with a place called Ocean Connections and had a great experience (I think I paid around $250 for 10 dives, including gear, a night dive, and a wreck dive). The only complaint I have with them is that my girlfriend got certified there and it was a hassle for her to get her dive card after we got back to the States because Oceans Connections wasn't very helpful.

Hi, I spent a week in Utila which is the smallest and cheapest of the Bay Islands. I really had fun and the course was very good. I chose Utila Dive Center because they have an arrangement with the Mango Inn - a beautiful place to stay. In general the courses cost the same at all schools in Utila. I paid about 200$ including two free fun-dives. Just google Utila Dive Center and you get all the information. I thought the quality of the material and courses was very good, I heard that about most schools, but some have (as far as I heard) very old material. When you arrive, just have a look around and check schools - the island is very small!
Bye, Katherin |
