I am working on a strategy plan for archaeo-tourism in Belize and am looking for comments on what is good about the various archaeological sites and what needs to be improved. Any input would be greatly appreciated -- the email address is tdpstrategy@hotmail.com
Thank you in advance |

I will answer your question here. The secondary roads need improvement and the sites need to be more accessible.
Although I understand that the road to Caracol has been improved, it is still a long day trip to get there and back. I suspect that if there were a couple hotels and a campground there, it would start to become more of a destination in its own right. To make Luba'antun more accessible, you would have to get more buses to and from San Pedro Colombia. I think that signs stating "xx number of miles to Luba'antun would be good at the Southern Highway and at the turn off to San Pedro C so that hikers and others know how far it is. What agency are you working on this for? |
